Heartwize

17th November 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

We are pleased to inform you that the charity Heartwize are coming to Birch Wood School on Wednesday 24th November to provide resuscitation training for some of our young people.

Your child has the opportunity to partake in one of the sessions. Heartwize aims to improve public awareness of cardiac arrest and provide training and support in basic resuscitation; CPR and Automated External Defibrillators, to help save thousands of lives each year.

Heartwize have made some small changes in order to be COVID compliant. Including carrying out this training in class groups/bubbles, distancing of manikins and they have dropped student participation rescue breathing. They will however have a demonstration by the trainer of how this is done. All our trainers will wear masks and manikins will be cleaned using antibacterial/ antiviral wipes prior to each training session.

For more information on the charity, please look at their website www.heartwize.org
